Follows this.
It's surprising when morning comes. Sherlock rarely sleeps when he's on a case, and this entire excursion is really just a case in and of itself. Even more than that, he rarely sleeps an entire night. However, when he looks at the blinds in the motel room, he can see the faint hints of pink streaming through. Dawn, then. In the part of the world he used to live in, it would be nearly noon, if not very early afternoon.
He turns his head to look at the Woman, still sleeping next to him. She stayed.
She's different when she sleeps. He remarked on it to John when he found her sleeping in his bed so long ago. Not like an angel, of course, no one would ever think of the Woman as an angel. Instead, she looks like all of the things she's holding tightly together are relaxed, and she's comfortable. It's a strange thing, but beautiful in its own way.
He lets his hand rest on her shoulder. Are there people that find this sort of thing normal? Waking up next to a lover, watching the light stream in? Sherlock imagines there must be people who are accustomed to it.

Discovery
No Stranger to Horrors
Fighting Together
Killing One's Sire
Healing Injuries
There is, of course, nothing but selfishness involved in adopting Meg.
Partially because John Watson has been spending far too much time with this newest girlfriend of his and he deserves to know that Sherlock needs a companion in a more full-time capacity. The sheer amount of irritation that John will experience with a newcomer in the house is marvelous.
There's also the fact that Meg is probably a psychopath, definitely deranged in some ways, and certainly sadistic. She's brilliant beyond her age, and that makes her absolutely interesting. Sherlock doesn't want to adopt her in order to get her into places that can better her, rather, he'd rather her be around so he can shape her experimentally and see what sort of a psychopath she turns into. It could be very interesting.
He steadfastly reminds himself that he is not at all concerned about the man who is obviously abusing other girls. He also reminds himself that he is not at all concerned about this club-thing that Meg is apparently part of that involves torture. He has no interest at all in getting her away from that. He reminds himself that he has no feelings on the matter.
There are laws, of course, and Sherlock has no interest in calling Mycroft to bypass them. He is allowed visitations and trips out for a time, and then he will be able to properly adopt her. Today is the first official visitation and trip out since he informed the orphanage of his interest in adoption.
He waits outside of the door for them to bring Meg out to him. She knows him, as they've talked a number of times during a few of his cases, but he hasn't let her know he's planning on disrupting the world she's accustomed to. He imagines it won't go over particularly well.

Istanbul was hot. Really, that was the best thing that Sherlock could say about it. He despised new places, always content to just stay in London and allow mystery to come to him. But now, now he and John had to draw the danger out. Draw it out and wait for it to come to them in this strange, foreign place.
He tousled his hair and put on dark sunglasses. It looked like he was trying to hide, but it would be enough to be spotted. Moriarty was far from a fool, and he would know something was wrong if Sherlock was too obvious. And the sunglasses helped from the raging headache he had from the drugs the night before.
He looked back to John. John, who wouldn't leave even when it would be beneficial to him. Idiot. Still, he was there, and in a way that made Sherlock feel better.
"I'll need a mobile," he said. "Something disposable. A pay phone would be too obvious. He'll need a few days to recognize us, otherwise he'll know we're bringing his assassins out."

OOC: I apologize
Jun. 9th, 2012 05:33 pmFor vanishing so suddenly and for so long. I just got back from a two-week research project on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas. There was no internet or phone and I was unable to respond to any messages. Coincidentally, there was also no air conditioning.
I had planned to write a detailed announcement of my departure the night before, but my computer decided to stop working and I spent that day running about to drop it off at a repair shop before my flight.
What did I miss?
